A land of conquests, stories and legends, a land of architectural wonders and a stage for great undertakings.

Trying to describe Sicily with a single word or adjective is not at all easy.

One thing is certain, this large island located in the centre of the Mediterranean Sea has always been a crossroads of peoples, who over time have left behind cultures and traditions, making it what it is today. Every ‘conqueror’ has planted ‘a seed’ on Sicilian soil, which has sprouted, grown and come down to the present day: everyone has given a piece of themselves to Sicily and one hardly realises the immense heritage that has been left behind and shaped this island and its people.

If we really had to choose a word, a term, an adjective, to describe this wonderful land and its essence, multiculturalism would probably be the most appropriate. Sicily is a land that embraces everyone, that welcomes by opening its arms wide, both to those who need it and to those who choose it because they have fallen in love with it.
